While Dr. Arkwright is, by all means, technically a doctor for any mechanik, he can also fix machines, though heavily prefers not to; this can include things anywhere from boilers to gyrothopters to a particularly unruly stove. His specialization, though, definitely is in the way of these steampunk robots. He has slight preferences even within these, though, preferring to work on the usually 'friendlier' mechaniks that are meant more for luxury and use than just use, such as mousers or birdsongs. Despite this, he has worked on much larger things; the equine carriers, giant horse-like mechaniks that carried cargo throughout the city, and even the CityCenti, a giant centipede that made its way through town four times a day. The foundry, a factory for making such technologies, that sits down the street from his shop, tends to enjoy having him repair their mishaps, except for large ones who need to be treated by professionals with a degree or something of the sort.
While Arkwright never received a college degree or any sort of formal education on repairing mechaniks, or any technology for that matter, he is more than skilled and is quite qualified for the jobs he performs. Trained since his childhood by the previous owner of the shop, an old human named Parker Winters, Arkwright could fix a lot of mechaniks in his sleep. He's seen all sorts of problems, too, and very little is new to him at this point. His insistence that he is a doctor and not just a mechanic is what leads to some aspects of his attire; the headband, for example, is worn sometimes as if to say he is indeed a doctor, and not someone who worked on the nonliving aspects of technology. He's exaggerating these things to make a point. |
